6. Take a Nap
Naps are flat out wonderful. Many people view napping as a lazy indulgence. But a good nap can recharge flagging energy levels, buff up mood, and actually make you more productive. It’s best to nap between noon and 3 pm so as not to interfere with getting a good night’s sleep.
7. Focus on the Positives
We can’t always control what life gives us, but we can control our reactions to it. Dwelling on negatives never makes things better. On the converse, focusing on the positive side of things helps us stay motivated and engaged, which in term helps us to bring more positive things into our life. The whole idea of “the power of positive thinking” has been bandied around by so many motivational speakers and day time talk shows that we tend to look on it with cynicism. But many of the greatest people in history – the ones who have truly changed the world, like Henry Ford and Albert Einstein – emphasized time and again that positive thinking is critical to success and happiness. Nothing influences the quality and course of our lives as much as our own attitude.
8. Laugh
Laughing doesn’t just feel good while you’re doing it – it actually creates lasting chemical changes in your brain. Find something to laugh about every day. Look at cartoons on the web, buy a humorous calendar, or, best of all, find people you can laugh with and spend time with them.
9. Try a Little Feng Shui
No question about it, our surroundings have a profound effect on our mood. Drab décor, poor lighting, and depressing images can steal the wind from anyone’s sails. Fill you room, office, or even a note book with color, humor, and images that inspire.
10. Meditate
Meditation is a wonderful practice for body and mind. Taking 15 minutes a day to empty your mind, focus on your breathing, and relax your body leaves you with less stress, a more positive outlook, and clearer thoughts. Take a look at our simple, user friendly Meditation Tutorial.
