2. Exercise

But exercise is far more than just a means to a fit and healthy body. It is a cornerstone of a productive, engaged, joyful life. 3. Diet
You really are what you eat. Literally every cell in your body, from your bones to your eyes to your skin to your hair is made out of the food you eat. But what’s really incredible is that all of these cells are turning over all of the time. Your skin, eyes, and even your bones aren’t permanent. Your body is constantly breaking down old cells and replacing them with new ones. Some of your organs, your intestines, for example, are completely replaced every 3 or 4 days. Your skin is mostly replaced every month, and even your bones within a year or two. The real question is: What do you want your body to be built out of? Junk food that will equate to blotchy, pasty skin, flabby muscles, and weak bones? Or nutritious natural foods that will help build radiant skin, lean toned muscles, and a fit, vital you? It really is a no-brainer. Even your brain is built out of the food you eat, and junk food equals a junk brain. 4. Sleep
Why do we miss out on sleep? Generally, it’s to find more time, either for work or for play. It seems to make basic sense – spending less time asleep and more time at work or having fun allows us to get more done and live a fuller life, right? Not really. When we short change sleep, both our mental and physical performance deteriorates. But the scary thing is, we’re not aware of this. Loads of people claim that they only need 6 hours of sleep. Yet 99% of these people perform significantly better on intelligence tests, memory tests, and tests of motor skills after a full 8 hours of sleep. In addition, mood and energy levels improve when we get adequate rest, meaning that a good night’s sleep is critical to getting the most out of work and play. If you just pull the occasional all-nighter to meet a deadline or stay out till 2 on any given Saturday, you’re not doing yourself much harm. But if you regularly cut back on shuteye, you’re inevitably undermining your performance in school or work, and failing to live at your full physical and emotional potential.
