Sample diet for Phase Two:

Take your probiotic right after waking up

Drink lemon water and vitamin C

Breakfast

Salad with balsamic and a little olive oil. Mix brown rice with the salad. Take your multivitamin, alpha lipoic acid, milk thistle, and dandelion

Snack 

Brown rice protein shake

Lunch

Stir-fry veggies with rice, pour 1oz of flax oil on cooked veggies (do not cook with it- heat will destroy it). Add turmeric while cooking. Use other Indian spices for flavor. Take vitamin E and dandelion

Mid day snack

Salad of lightly cooked veggies with raw lettuce or greens. Use balsamic vinegar and a little olive oil as a dressing.  Alternatively, have another protein shake

Dinner

Steamed veggies and rice- try. Eat some beats or drink some beat juice. Take another dose of milk thistle, dandelion, and Alpha-Lipoic Acid.

Through the day, drink lemon water with vitamin C ( half a lemon squeezed into one quart of water, with the peel and remaining lemon allowed to soak in the water), and herbal teas- especially dandelion root and echinechia. Drink a lot. You should be urinating every hour or so while Detoxing.

Separate your meals (including snacks) by at least two hours. You want to fully digest one meal before beginning another. In addition, you don’t want your stomach flooded with liquid and food at the same time. Drink most of your liquids 20 minutes of so before each meal so that there will be time to absorb the liquid before you eat.

Detox Beyond Dieting

With detox, diet is 60% of the battle, but you still need to assist your body in purging the toxins you’re releasing into your blood stream and other tissues. Moderate exercise and something called "hydrotherapy" are the two best ways to do this. Exercise-wise, look to do some light ReEvolution style cardio every other day while on the program (See our Exercise Overview and Getting Started with Exercise for more on the best way to do cardio). Shoot for 20-30 minute workouts, and  keep it light! Alternate between a moderate jog pace and full rest breaks. If you’re going to follow one of our interval workouts (sign up for you free ReEvolution Fitness Action Plan for a personalized program), do everything at about 60% of the recommended pace. Error on the side of doing too little – as long as you break a sweat and get a bit out of breath, you’re doing enough. Overdoing exercise while detoxing will actually make the program less effective in addition to leaving you feeling exhuasted. Avoid lifting weights during your detox week. Lifting weights will create metabolic toxins, burdening the detox system, and divert energy away from detox processes to repair and build muscle tissue.

"Hydrotherapy" involves using alternating applications of cold and hot water to drive circulation. Increased circulation aids detox by removing toxins more quickly from body tissues, and supplying those tissues with fresh resources in the form of oxygen and nutrients to drive further detoxification. One of the easiest forms of hydrotherapy consists of spending 2-3 minutes in a sauna, then 1 minute under a cool (not cold) shower, and cycle this exchange 3 to 5 times. If you don't have access to a sauna, let shower water almost as hot as you can stand beat on your back and chest (rotate around) for 2-3 minutes, then switch to cool water for 30 breaths (they’ll be shallow, fast breaths as you start to hyperventilate, but don’t make it too cold…) Again, do three to five cycles. After either of these techniques, be sure you don’t go out in the cold for at least 20 minutes – it’s critical to stay warm after any kind of systemic stress (exercise, hot cold cycles, emotional stress, etc…). Steam rooms can also be a great aid to detox – again, cycling is best, 3 minutes or so in the steam, 1 minute under a cool shower, 3-5 cycles.
